There seems to be ample history on the Internet about Eddie Poe. We have covered two points we feel have been greatly distorted. His drinking profile and the actuality of his death. The other pages on this site are items about our personal past that we hope you will find interesting. After all, we are what we were.
Here you will see, following the stock market crash of 1929, our country suffered from a great depression in the economy. Millions had it as bad as folks during Eddie Poe's time. Hopefully this will give us pause to praise these hardy folks. Many are our direct relatives. They did their best to keep life alive. They loved their children. Because of them and their love and work ethic we enjoy the good life. Perhaps a bit more of the good life than some should have.

President Roosevelt started "The New Deal". Thousands of able bodied men went to work for the WPA or PWA, two projects that made work creating parks and roadways and rivers and streams. A beleaguered nation taking care of its own. The great dust bowl occurred during this period also, bringing drought to many southern states where people were already poor trying to make a living off the land. They loaded up their $15.00 cars with all they had and headed to California where there was fruit to be picked.
The suffering was immense and the effect on young unschooled minds is unrecorded. The camps were choked with people who followed the road to work and found thousands had already taken the jobs.
On a lighter note, the link below should be for old folks, seniors about 65, however you can look too but you won't recall the photo's of the last fast fifty years. The music is cool. Over seven million folks have looked and listened to the great rendition of the song, "We didn't start the fire". This remarkable work is the creation of a student.
